A CEAP team met with officials of the Department of Education this morning (July 31), to hold a conversation on the proposed harmonized curriculum of GMRC/VE and Christian Living.
The team from CEAP was headed by Fr. Albert N. Delvo, PhD, CEAP President with Mr. Jose Allan Arellano, CEAP Executive Director; Fr. Glenn William Relucio, Trustee of CEAP-NCR; Sr. Aileen Bonifacio, SPC; Mr. Narcy Ador Dionisio, Trustee, CEAP R3, and Ms. Charina Claustro, CEAP Advocacy Coordinator.
DepEd official present were: Usec. Gina Gonong, Usec. for Curriculum and Teaching; Asec. Alma Torio, Curriculum Development and Heads/Directors of relevant offices under them, i.e., NEAP, PEO and Bureau of Curriculum Development.
The CEAP has been seeking clarification on the use of a harmonized curriculum integrating GMRC/ VE with Christian Living. A team from the CEAP NCR, headed by Fr. Glenn and Sr. Aileen has produced a curriculum using this integrated approach. The CEAP has requested DepEd’s endorsement of this document.
Usec. Gonong has expressed her team’s approval of the materials for use in Catholic schools as long as the Required Learning Competencies are covered, among other things.
A letter from DepEd will be released to guide the regional offices on this agreement. Likewise, the CEAP is also set to release an advisory within this week.
